Pleasantville police talk down man threatening to jump from overpass

Pleasantville police talked a man down who threatened to jump from the sign at the Atlantic City Expressway overpass Friday afternoon. The man, whose name is not being released, climbed the overpass at about 4:10 p.m. Patrolman Charlie Ellis with help from Patrolman John Payne negotiated with him to get him to come down, Capt. Matt Hartman said. The incident closed the expressway eastbound for about a half-hour. The man finally agreed to come down with help from the Pleasantville Fire Department Ladder 2. New Jersey State Police and TriCare EMS assisted. TriCare then took the man to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus.
