Atlantic City overseer will make $400 an hour, attorney general says

  • News
Atlantic City's state overseer will make $400 an hour, the state Attorney General's Office announced Thursday night, according to nj.com. Former U.S. Sen. Jeff Chiesa was given "wide-ranging authority" since his appointment by Gov. Chris Christie last month. After much pushing by members of the media, Attorney General Christopher Porrino finally released how Chiesa and his law firm will be paid, with senior partners making $400 per hour, partners getting $350 per hour, $240 hourly for associates and a $90 rate for paralegals. Chiesa and the governor have worked together for about a quarter-century, including during Christie's time as U.S. attorney. As governor, Christie appointed Chiesa first as attorney general and later nominated him to fill the U.S. Senate position left empty when Sen. Frank Lautenberg died. Assemblyman Chris Brown tweeted his dislike of the spending, saying how three summits and advisers already cost taxpayers more than $3 million dollars. "Now a crony with no expertise at $400 an hour. Priceless!"
