Three charged in Atlantic City shooting that wounded two

Three Atlantic City men have been charged in a shooting that wounded two people.
Atlantic City police responded to a ShotSpotter alert and multiple calls reporting gunfire at about 4:20 a.m. March 1, in the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Bilal Freeman, 32, and Emanuel Williams, 25, were found shot and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus.
A three-week investigation by the city's Violent Crimes Unit led to criminal charges against Iree Jones, Shawn Smith and Abdul Sanderlin, Fair said.
On Wednesday, detectives conducting surveillance saw Jones, 23, enter a motel room at the Rodeway Inn. Jones, was arrested without incident.
Detectives got a search warrant for the room, and found a handgun reported stolen from Northfield in January, according to the report.
At 1:35 a.m. Thursday, State Trooper Steven Hodge conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 30 in Absecon, and arrested Smith, 24, and Sanderlin, 23. The two were additionally charged for heroin and cocaine found inside the vehicle.
All three men were jailed on two counts of aggravated assault, and a count each of unlawful possess of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, certain person not to possess a weapon, receiving stolen property and conspiracy.
