A longtime Atlantic County corrections officer was sentenced to five years' probation Friday after admitting to criminal sexual contact with a female inmate.
Castulo Matos, a 21-year veteran from Egg Harbor City, touched the unnamed victim inappropriately on Dec. 5, according to the charge.
He also made inappropriate comments to the woman before that, she told investigators.
She reported him to jail staff on Dec. 13.
Officers of the Atlantic County Department of Public Safety/Division of Adult Detention Investigations Unit and detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Official Corruption Unit conducted the investigation.
Matos was immediately suspended from his employment. As part of the plea agreement, he forfeits all current and future public employment.
