Sheriff Balles returning to Pleasantville police work

  • News
Atlantic County Sheriff Frank Balles is returning to his policing roots. After deciding not to seek re-election, Balles will return to the Pleasantville Police Department as a captain, Chief Sean Riggin announced Tuesday. Balles, who was second in command when he left his position of nearly 25 years to become sheriff, asked to return. And Riggin said he happily granted that request. "I am thrilled to have Frank back at our department and I know he will help us to drive the department in the direction we all want to go," Riggin said. "Having worked with Frank a great deal over the last two decades — both in the department and as sheriff — I know that he shares the vision of our leadership team, to work together with our community to reduce crime and expand collaboration with the neighborhoods we serve. I know that he will be a great fit and I look forward to seeing him wear our uniform again." Mayor Jesse Tweedle agreed. "I know that Frank will be an outstanding member of the Pleasantville Police Department team, just as he was before he began his service as the sheriff," he said. "He really never left us and has worked hard to provide critical assistance when we needed it during a manpower crisis and has always worked hard for our residents." When he returns July 31, Balles will assist with leadership of Community Affairs, Traffic Safety, Grant Management and Policy Analysis.
