Man needs drug overdose antidote after causing two crashes in Atlantic City

  • News
A Connecticut man was charged with multiple driving offenses, including driving under the influence after crashing into the steps of the McDonald Express. Daniel Thompson, 27, of Fairfield, Conn., had to be given naloxone — used to reverse the affects of opiates — after he crashed his car in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. He was revived by ambulance personnel and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Division for treatment of his injuries. An investigation by Officer Ivan Lopez found Thompson had side-swiped a vehicle at South Carolina and Atlantic avenues before continuing down Atlantic, where he left the road, striking a traffic sign and parking meter before continuing on the curb and hitting the fast food restaurant's steps. Along with the DUI, Thompson was charged with driving while suspended, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, reckless driving, being an uninsured driver and unlicensed driver. He was released with a future court date.
