Atlantic City native brings help home to Houston

Qaadir Williams was stuck in Atlantic City when Harvey hit Houston.
The Edward Jones financial adviser was celebrating his Atlantic City High School Class of 2002 reunion.
Now, he is returning home in a truck packed with donations from his native home to his current one.
Under the hashtag #sandtytoharvey, the donations of clothing and other necessities will help those who lost so much to the floods and winds.
Williams was inspired by his best friend, Lou Rosado Jr., who drove 4,300 cases of water to Flint, Michigan.
Rosado and Williams met when they both worked at the Boys and Girls Club in Atlantic City, and have been best friends since.
“So we decided to put our networks together and see how much we could get together in this week or so to drive down to Houston,” Williams said.
The response was overwhelming.
“Atlantic City really stepped up here,” he said.

Pleasantville's top cop securing rescue efforts
Pleasantville Police Chief Sean Riggin, left, is helping rescue efforts on St. John.
Pleasantville’s police chief is working a different kind of security this week.
Sean Riggin decided to volunteer his services for relief efforts in St. John, Virgin Islands, after he and his wife didn’t hear from her father.
Michael Vogt’s dream had been to move to St. John. Five weeks ago, it came true with a home on Coral Bay in the Lower Bordeaux Mountain area.
Then, Hurricane Irma hit. It took two days for Vogt to contact his family. In that time, Riggin volunteered, and decided to go anyway.
Now, he’s working as private security for St. John Rescue and Global DIRT (Disaster Immediate Response Team).
“His plan was to come home Wednesday, but he called (Saturday) night and said he may stay a bit longer,” said Riggin’s wife, Larissa. “Things are desperate and there is an extreme need for both search/rescue and security. He doesn't want to leave his team unless someone can replace him.”
Larissa Riggin said she’s not yet sure her dad will be with her husband when he returns home.
“I hope so,” she said.
