Two Hammonton men were among three arrested in possession of a pound of methamphetamine on Wednesday.
The drug has a street value of about $100,000.
Benigno Ramirez, 37, and his cousin Salathiel Ramirez, 38, were arrested in Clayton, Gloucester County as part of a cooperative investigation between the Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Clayton Police Department, according to a release from the Prosecutor's Office. A Pittman Police Department K-9 team assisted in the arrests.
Eugene Griffin, 37, a fugitive from San Diego, Calif., was also arrested.
All three men were turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff's Department and taken to the Salem County Correctional Facility, which houses many of Gloucester's inmates since its jail closed. They were charged with first-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute.
The cousins were booked and released the same day, according to jail records. Griffin remains in the Salem County jail pending extradition on a counterfeiting charge.
