The officers stopped Alexander Ortiz, 19, of Atlantic City, citing him for failure to wear a seat and obstruction of view, according to the report.

During the stop at West Bayview and Alder avenues, they found the passenger, Yondaury Moya-Delacruz, had a handgun in his waistband, Hartman said. They also found marijuana on him and drug paraphernalia on both men.

Ortiz was released on a summons.

He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

At about 12:30 p.m. the next day, the same team stopped James Thompson driving in the area of Woodland Avenue and New Road.

During the stop, the officers asked for assistance from a Galloway Township police K-9 dog. The dog alerted that there were drugs in the car, Hartman said.

The officers found 1.6 ounces of suspected cocaine, along with a loaded handgun, additional hollow-point ammunition and $3,100 in cash.

Thompson, 47, of Pleasantville, was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun during the commission of a drug offense, possession of prohibited devices for the bullets, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute.

He is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
