Longport woman angry over construction noise allegedly hit contractor with bat

  • News
A Longport woman was arrested this week after she allegedly hit a contractor with a baseball bat. Susan Venesz, 63, called police on Wednesday to complain about construction, police said. After she was told there was no violation being committed, she threatened to go outside with a baseball bat and a dog to confront the contractor, according to the report. Officers arrived at the residence just before 2 p.m., and found Venesz arguing with the unnamed contractor, swinging a baseball bat in one hand and holding the leash of a dog with the other, police said. The victim told police she already had hit him with the bat, and that he had recorded the confrontation on his cell phone. Venesz tried to run into her residence when Sgt. Pierce Shaud and Patrolman Frank Lupperger told her she was being arrested, police said. She resisted both officers, but was taken into custody safely.
Venesz was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and resisting arrest. She was released on a summons.
