Stockton freshman among four killed allegedly by her teenage brother

A Stockton University freshman was among four people killed inside her Long Branch home New Year’s Eve. Brittany Kologi, 18, along with her parents and a family friend were found shot to death inside the home on Wall Street, after police received a 911 call reporting shots fired at 11:43 p.m., Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni said. Kologi’s 16-year-old brother has been arrested. The other victims were his parents, Steven Kologi, 44, and Linda Kologi, 42, along with family acquaintance, Mary Schultz, 70, of Oakhurst Parkway in Ocean Township. The teen allegedly used a Century Arms semi-automatic rifle to the kill them, Gramiccioni said following a joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Long Branch police. Brittany Kologi was a health sciences student who lived on campus in Galloway Township, but was on winter break, according to the university. “We are shocked and saddened by the reports of the death of freshman Brittany Kologi under such tragic circumstances,” a university statement read. “While students are currently on winter break, the housing and counseling staff will be available to provide services to her friends and classmates here at Stockton.” A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family’s funeral expenses.
