Cape prosecutor updating Megan's Law notifications list

  • News

The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office is working to update its Megan's Law notifications.
Since 1994, Megan's Law has allowed law enforcement to notify communities of where certain sexual offenders live in their neighborhoods.
Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland is asking that organizations that may be eligible to request a form from the Prosecutor's Office website HERE.
All public, private and parochial education institutions through grade 12, licensed daycare centers and licensed summer camps are automatically eligible and do not need to fill out an application, according to the office.
But other community organizations that could be eligible include those groups, agencies and organizations that own or operate an establishment where children gather under their care or where the organization cares for women.
In addition to the online application, those eligible can call the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Megan’s Law Unit at 609-465-1135 to request an application. Completed applications should be returned to the Prosecutor’s Office Megan’s Law Unit at 4 More Road, DN 110, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Forms also may be faxed to 609-463-5175.
