Gospel concert to honor those in area who give back

  • News
More than a dozen residents who help the community will be honored with a Gospel concert this month. Elder JP Ministries will give special recognition March 31 at Pleasantville’s Lighthouse Community Church. “These individuals are the humanitarians of our community and we simply pause to say thank you,” said James Pressley, who is holding the event for the second year in a row. Honorees include religious leaders, educators and administrators, local business owners and music producers. The concert will feature Gospel artist Deon Kipping.
PRESSLEY Pressley said he tried to get Kipping for a previous concert, but then the artist was diagnosed with colon cancer. Kipping spoke about his diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer to fans in January 2017. By that October, he was announcing he had been healed and was cancer-free. Now, in addition to his music, Kipping “has an awesome testimony” to share, Pressley said. And 16 locals to honor. The event is a chance to bring national Gospel artists to Pleasantville, Pressley's hometown. "The purpose of the event is to showcase local ministries and talents along with the national artist," Pressley said. "The event is held the same time every year as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We also honor local individuals for their dedicated service to our community." Those being recognized for their service are: Dr. Nycole Lyles-Belton, Lady Dee Rollins-Britt, Elder Diane Michelle-Buster, Constance Days-Chapman, Stacia Davis, Franklin “Bubby” Fann Jr., Joey Gaynor, Deacon William Hawkes Jr., Minister Rayna Hendricks, Evangelist Lonniyell, Dr. Torrina Bennett-Michael, Dr. Robin Moore, Candis Bartell-Richey, Alonzo Smalls II, Pamela Williams and Dr. Thelma Witherspoon. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The show begins at 6 p.m . Tickets may be purchased online HERE. They also are available at : Lighthouse Community Church, 1311 S. Main St., Pleasantville 2K Hair Studio, 6690 Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Township NJ-WEHA Gospel 88.7, 3 Canale Drive, Egg Harbor Township
