Teen arrested in Atlantic City car chase is 'another child the system failed,' mom says

The teen who allegedly that allegedly led Atlantic City police on a three-town chase in a stolen car had a history of running from trouble, BreakingAC has learned. The 16-year-old, whose name is not being released due to his age, had twice cut off his ankle bracelet while on release and twice ran from a group home, his mother said. Stealing a car is a really serious crime, even possessing a stolen car is serious. The distress this can cause on the victim is huge, not to mention it could affect the car insurance quotes they are given when it is time to renew. The woman, whose name is being withheld to protect the minor's identity, said she has been trying to get help for two years, and even cried to a juvenile judge begging for something to be done. He’s “another child the system failed,” she said.

The teen is now at the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center, charged with eluding, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, receiving stolen property and numerous traffic summonses. “Now maybe, just maybe I will get the help needed for him before he turns 18 and things escalate with him,” his mother said.
