Two Atlantic County workers and one's daughter are charged in an alleged scheme to steal EBT cards for their own use, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner announced Monday,
A man was also charged with having a stolen handgun and drugs as a result of the investigation.
The investigation began in December by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Corruption Unit and the Atlantic County Family and Community Development Fraud Investigative Unit, Tyner said.
Barbara Landron, 46, of Atlantic City, and Christine Gonzalez, 47, of Ventnor, allegedly used their jobs with the county Family and Community Development to electronically cancel legitimately issued EBT cards for those who qualified and then re-issuing new cards to use themselves, according to the charges.
The women stole about 30 cards totaling about $10,000 in losses.
Landron's 18-year-old daughter, Shayala Landron of Atlantic City, was charged for her role in accepting stolen cards and using them for herself, Tyner said.
The woman's boyfriend, Deion Nance, 22, of Atlantic City, was charged as a result of a stolen handgun and marijuana found in his Atlantic City residence as part of a search conducted in the investigation.
Barbara Landron and Gonzalez are charged with official misconduct, pattern of official misconduct, conspiracy to commit official misconduct, theft by deception, computer criminal activity and drug possession.
Gonzalez is additionally charged with theft of property lost, mislaid or delivered by mistake.
Shalaya Landron is charged with conspiracy to commit official misconduct and theft by deception.
Nance is charged with receiving stolen property and drug possession.
