The Centers for Disease Control continues to warn people not to eat Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal.
A salmonella outbreak that has reached 100 cases in 33 states — including four in New Jersey — has been linked to the cereal.
“Do not eat any Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal, regardless of package size or best-by date,” the CDC warns. “Even if some of the cereal has been eaten and no one got sick, throw the rest of it away or return it for a refund.”
The Kellogg Company recalled the cereal June 14.
There have been 30 people hospitalized as a result of the outbreak. No deaths have been reported.
Health officials in several states tested the cereal both from retail locations and ill people’s homes and found Salmonella Mbandaka in both opened and unopened packages.
