Williamstown man charged in theft of 22 commercial truck batteries

  • News
A Williamstown man has been arrested in the theft of nearly two dozen commercial truck batteries stolen in a 10-day period last month. Hamilton Township police got four reports of batteries stolen from vehicles parked in lots or construction sites along the Black Horse Pike between June 17 and 27, police said. A total of 22 batteries were reported stolen, according to the report. With the assistance of the Monroe Township police, Stephen Hopkins was identified. Hopkins, 23, was interviewed last Friday, and ultimately confessed to stealing the batteries that he sold to scrap metal businesses, police said. He was charged with four counts of theft and released pending a court appearance.
