Atlantic City man arrested for stealing car of good Samaritan who stopped to help

  • News

An Atlantic City man was arrested after he fled the scene of a one-car crash in the car of a man who stopped to help. Isiah Davis, 23, was traveling east on Route 30 at about 7:20 Monday morning when his car left the roadway near mile marker 55, and struck a pole, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. A passerby stopped to check on who was hurt, according to the report. As the man was talking to the female passenger, Davis got into the man's car and sped off, Fair said. Sgt. Jody Hersh found the unoccupied vehicle in the 1900 block of Arkansas Avenue. A resident stopped Hersh to say they saw Davis walk away from the car moments before Davis got there, Fair said. Officer Brian McKinney found Davis and arrested him without incident a block away.  He had the keys to the stolen vehicle, Fair said. The female passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Atlantic City, was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus with non-life threatening injuries. Isiah Davis is charged with joyriding, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, reckless driving and failure to report an accident. He was released on a summons. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5744 or text anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
