Mays Landing Man Accused In Luring Attempt Will Spend Weekend In Jail

  • News
A Mays Landing man released last month on a summons for allegedly trying to lure a young girl into his SUV will spend at least the weekend in jail. Talal Aridi, 35, was arrested this week on a restraining order violation for allegedly driving down the 11-year-old girl's street after a criminal restraining order was obtained following his July 15 arrest. Aridi is accused of trying to get the girl to take a ride with him after he drove up to her on the street, asked her several questions and took pictures with his cell phone, according to the charges against him.

A Mays Landing man is back in jail after he allegedly returned to the area where he is accused of attempting to lure an 11-year-old girl. Talal Aridi, 35, was first arrested July 15, after he allegedly tried to get the 11-year-old Mays Landing girl into his SUV. He drove up to the girl, and began asking questions, she later told her mother.

Under the conditions of bail reform, he was released on a summons. But, the restraining order violation charge got him put in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he is awaiting a detention hearing. The hearing was scheduled for Thursday, but the prosecution has asked for a three-day adjournment to review the evidence in the case. That is allowed under bail reform. Aridi tried to address the court before he was led out following his brief appearance, but both his attorney and the judge advised him not to. "Because anything you say can be held against you," Judge Patricia Wild told Aridi as he was led away. The girl's mother told BreakingAC she got in her car and followed Aridi after she saw him drive by while sitting on her porch.
