Two seriously injured in four-car Hamilton crash

  • News
Two people were seriously injured in a crash that closed a portion of the Black Horse Pike in Hamilton Township for about two hours Thursday evening. The crash happened near milepost 44 at about 6:15 p.m., police said. An investigation found a red Volskwagen was stopped in the left westbound lane trying to make a U-turn when it was struck by a westbound Dodge Caravan driven by Leonard Hicks, 36, of Newtonville. The impact pushed the Volkswagen into the eastbound lane, where it collided with a green Mercury driven by Khalid Muhammad, 58, of Atlantic City, according to the report. The Caravan also crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck Hyndai Sonata driven by Timothy Pickett, 24, of Egg Harbor Township. Hicks and Pickett were treated for minor injuries at the scene, police said. Muhammad was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus in Galloway Township for treatment. The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen sustained serious injuries and were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's  City Campus for treatment. Their identities have not been confirmed at this time. The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, Galloway Township Rescue Squad, AtlanticCare Paramedics and Mays Landing Fire Department assisted at the scene. The crash is under investigation by Officer Hanley and Detective Robison.
