Community celebrates day of thanks in different ways

Whether it was gathering family together, hosting those away from home or just getting ready for the sales, those in the area celebrated Thanksgiving in different ways. New Shiloh Baptist Church started the day with a Thanksgiving breakfast to show those in need they are loved, said Nycole Lyles-Belton, who went live and had those helping out say what they are thankful for. https://www.facebook.com/nplylesbelton/videos/10156822176585522/ Dave Delaney had some special guests at his home. Dave Delaney was hosting members of the Coast Guards. "Have Coasties from Cape May for the day," he said. There was turkey, the fixings and lots of desserts. Nickkie Fischer has lots of famiy with her brother, six kids, three grandsons and son-in-law. And the food went beyond turkey and stuffing, with meatballs, rice and beans, fried chicken, ham and empanadas. "I'm spending Thanksgiving with my family," Joy Patrice happily announced. "Can't wait!" The holidays can be sad for those who have lost family. But Loretta Sutton says she gets through after losing her mom, dad and younger brother by spending the holiday with her two adult children. Eileen Marie Haggerty was on a cruise to Barcelona.
Bob Peterson was celebrating thanks twice, as it was also his 24th wedding anniversary. Nancy Haldeman was thankful she didn't have to cook "for the first time in many, many years." Her daughter and son-in-law were hosting thanks giving at their new home, and with the younger woman cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the first time. The turkey was coming along well, Haldeman showed in a picture sent to BreakingAC. Brittney Donohoe, who sometimes uses her oven for extra storage, had a piece of advice for others.
