Cumberland man guilty in fatal 2016 stabbing of wife

A Cumberland County man was found guilty in the fatal stabbing of his estranged wife in front of their preteen son.
Jeremiah E. Monell, 33, of Commercial Township, was convicted of murder and weapons offenses in the Dec. 18, 2016, killing of Tara O’Shea.
O’Shea suffered almost 90 wounds in the attack inside her Laurel Lake home, the medical examiner testified at trial.
The couple’s then-12-year-old son witnesses the crime.
Investigators found knives used in the killing behind the stove. One had Monell’s palm print.
Monell fled after the killing, leading to a manhunt that resulted in his arrest days later.
He now faces life without parole when he is sentenced March 1.
