Atlantic City police looking for man last seen swimming in water off Venice Park

Atlantic City police are looking for the whereabouts of a man last seen jumping into the water off Venice Park just after midnight Monday.
Patrol officers responded to the 2300 block of Sheldon Avenue for a report of a male acting erratically after jumping out of the window of a residence, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Medical personnel were called to the scene after officers arrived to find Damon Malloy, also known as Damon Thompson, yelling and behaving unusually, according to the report.
As the officers approached, Malloy ran and jumped in the water off of Murray Avenue, Fair said.
Malloy began to swim away as officers tried to get him to return to land, Fair said. He continued to swim until the officers lost sight of him.
The Atlantic City Fire Department, New Jersey State Police and the U.S. Coast Guard responded, but  Malloy still has not been found. It is not known if he got out of the water.
Anyone with information about this incident or Malloy’s whereabouts is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5766.  Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
