An Atlantic City man was killed and two others wounded in a Philadelphia shooting overnight, BreakingAC has learned.
The shooting happened in the 2200 block of South 58th Street on the highway at 2:11 a.m., a spokesman for the Philadelphia Police Department said.
One of the men, 35, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby at 2:26 a.m.
Police are not releasing his identity until all next of kin notifications have been made.
A 27-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were wounded in the shooting.
The 27-year-old was shot five times, including once to the stomach, twice to the back, once to the left thigh and once to the left arm, according to the police report. The 30-year-old was shot in the hand.
Philadelphia police do not release the identities of those wounded in shootings, a spokesman said.
Loved ones took to Facebook on Thursday to mourn the man killed and offer prayers for the one badly wounded.
As posts continued to urge the critically injured man to pull through, he posted a status of his own.
“Today I’m Blessed!! I Woke Up As A #WINNER,” Shadi Cottman wrote.
He later confirmed to BreakingAC that he wrote the status.
Cottman was previously shot in November 2016, outside the Hamilton Mall during the early morning hours of the morning after Thanksgiving. His younger brother, Demond Cottman, was killed in that shooting. No arrests were ever made.
The deceased man also lost a nephew to violence that year, in an unrelated incident.
BreakingAC is not releasing the name of the man killed until all notifications have been confirmed.
