Man indicted in fatal stabbing of ex-girlfriend in Atlantic City

A Ventnor man accused of fatally stabbing his former girlfriend in a vicious attack inside her Atlantic City home was indicted Wednesday.
Jose Lopez, 52, was indicted on nine charges, including murder, attempted murder, armed robbery and carjacking.
Police arrived at North Harrisburg Avenue at about 8 p.m. Feb. 18, and found Mark Richart stabbed outside.
Inside her home, Bessy Blanco, 54, was dead, stabbed so brutally that her arm was cut off, according to those close to the investigation.
Blanco had once dated Lopez, who continued to harass her despite their breakup, family members said.
Lopez allegedly fled the scene in Richart’s car.
The next day, a Galloway Township police officer on patrol found Lopez driving Richart’s car, according to the charges.
Lopez remains jailed until trial.

  1. Thank you Lynda for that update.
I am so glad that the Atlantic City police department were able to identify and arrest this monster.
I hope that his stay in prison will be horrible.
