Steven Loughney's family waited nine months for someone to be arrested in his killing.
"I don't know how to feel," Justin Daniels said as he waited for his brother's accused killer to enter the courtroom Thursday.
In the end, Kevin Quince just looked like a normal guy, said Daniels, 41, of Northfield.
But the 27-year-old Atlantic City man is allegedly the person who fatally shot Loughney inside his South Metropolitan home Jan. 3.
Quince was allegedly trying to rob Loughney, 28, of drugs.
Bad circumstances don't make his brother a bad guy, Daniels said of Loughney.
"He was never a bad guy," Daniels said. "Everyone loved him. He was always a happy person."
Quince didn't say much during the brief appearance before Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury.
He said he was trying to get an attorney, and was told he would get the paperwork to apply for a public defender, if needed.
"We're just glad that this is the beginning of hopefully some justice, and of some closure," Daniels said outside the courtroom. "We just want to thank the Prosecutor's Office and ACPD for being diligent. We have the utmost trust in the system."
