Tip leads to Atlantic City car stop, drugs and a Facebook Live post

  • News

A Mays Landing woman was arrested after a tip that there were drugs in her vehicle in Atlantic City. Officers Jacob Abbruscato and La'Quay Green found the vehicle in the area of Morris and Pacific avenues at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday and started to talk with the occupants, James Waugh and Danielle Neyers, according to the police report. They found that Waugh, who was driving, did not have a valid driver's license, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. Waugh, 27, originally gave his name as Malcolm Brown, a video he posted live on his Facebook page of the stop shows. But it seems he had trouble spelling Malcolm, as the officer asked him to repeat it several times. “I’m on Live right now you all, getting pulled over, you heard," he says, looking into the camera. "For what, I have no idea." Neyers can be heard saying, "I know I shouldn't have let him drive." Waugh admitted to not having a driver's license. "It's suspended," he says. Eventually, he also admits his name is James Waugh.

"You know we can arrest you for that, right?" an officer out of frame says. "That's what I told him," Neyers can be heard saying. "It's only a summons," Waugh shrugs. "It's only a fine. I'm not really worried about it." He tells them he gave a fake name because he didn't know why they were pulling him over. "I can smell marijuana in the car," an officer is heard telling Neyers. "I don't know how," she replies. Both were asked to get out of the vehicle, and Neyers was found to have 19 grams of marijuana, more than 35 grams of cocaine and 10 bags of heroin, Fair said. Waugh was issued a motor vehicle summons for being an unlicensed driver. Neyers, 28, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and two counts of possession with intent to distribute.

She was released on a summons.
