A Mays Landing man is facing a luring charge after he allegedly tried to get an 11-year-old girl into his car.
Hamilton Township police received a call Sunday saying that a man in a silver Subaru Forrester approached an 11-year-old girl as she was walking down the street, police said. The suspect asked the girl for her phone number and if she needed a ride.
The girl then ran to a neighbor's house, police said.
Talal Aridi, 35, was found inside the vehicle as officers responded to the incident, police said.
Aridi was taken to the police station, where he was interviewed by detectives and charged with second-degree luring.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Screening Unit was contacted and advised to place the charges against Aridi on a summons, per criminal justice reform, according to Hamilton Township police.
