Stockton looking for local hip-hop artists

  • News
Stockton University is searching for local hip-hop artists. The Hip Hop Talent Showcase is looking to spotlight local talent. It’s the final service learning project for the Introduction to Hip Hop Culture students, and they are recruiting talent both on campus and within the community. “The class touches upon subjects and historical analysis on how hip-hop became a household form of music that was played through multiple countries,” explained student Soukenya Wade, who is west African and Brazilian. “Being international, having passports from several countries and being a lover of Hip Hop and rap, this really interested me.” Forms it will highlight include rap, poetry, singing and dancing. There will be cash prizes for the winner and runners-up. Admission is free. The showcase will be held 6 p.m. Dec. 6 in the newly dedicated Fannie Lou Hamer Event Room at Stockton University Atlantic City, 3711 Atlantic Ave. Anyone interested in performing at the event can contact sherman38@go.stockton.edu or
myer56@go.stockton.edu. For updates, follow their Instagram at HHTShowcase.
