The foundation that helps get the extras the city's police need recently helped the community's children.
The Atlantic City Police Foundation and Tour de Shore donated 170 winter coats to children in need at Chelsea Heights, Brighton Avenue, Pennsylvania Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Complex schools.
The city's police officers helped distribute the coats to the children.
The foundation is a nonprofit that helps purchase things for the department that the city's budget doesn't allow.
