Galloway man, four others face indictments in HIV-infection case

  • News

Charges claiming a Galloway Township man failed to disclose his HIV status to two sexual partners could soon lead to indictments against him and four others.
Anthony Hargrove, 37, was first charged last spring with three counts related to infecting a man with HIV.
In October, a second victim came forward.
After the first arrest, friends of Hargrove began harassing the victim via social media, including video posted online showing him having sex with another man.
Whitney Wilson is now accused of posting that video, which shows the victim with her husband, according to the charges.
The victim, whose name is not being published due to the nature of the charges, told police that Wilson sent him threatening text messages for months, warning him to “see what would happen” if he contacted her husband again.
Wilson’s husband, Khaleef, is also charged with making terroristic threats. The cases are expected to be presented to a grand jury soon, Assistant Cape May County Prosecutor Bryna Batten told the judge Wednesday.
Batten, a former Atlantic County assistant prosecutor, has been assigned to the case by the Attorney General’s Office, after it was decided that Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner had a conflict.
The Wilsons, however, did not appear in court.
Superior Court Judge Donna Taylor issued bench warrants for the Egg Harbor Township couple.
Facebook posts show they were in Las Vegas, celebrating Whitney Wilson’s 30th birthday.
Another defendant in the case, Michelle Joyner, showed up to court late, telling Taylor that she was not informed she was supposed to be there.
She said she was at work when she got a message that her name had been called.
Taylor rescinded Joyner’s bench warrant and had her fill out a form for a public defender, which Joyner insisted she had done previously.
Katrina Smith, who is charged with three counts including cyber-harassment, and Hargrove appeared in court without issues.
New court dates were not set, pending presentment to the grand jury.
