Margate man convicted of possessing, sharing child pornography

  • News

A Margate man was convicted of possession and distribution of child pornography last week.
Robert Ferry, 40, shared photos and videos of children engaged in sexual acts or situations at least 10 times between March 2018 and March 2019, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill said.
What he didn’t know was that the files were being shared to a Department of Homeland Security undercover computer program.
Investigators tracked him through an IP address coming from his apartment, according to the charges.
Ferry was convicted of first-degree child distribution via a file-sharing program in excess of 1,000 items and second-degree possession of child pornography in excess of 1,000 items.
The first-degree charge carries a mandatory 10-year period of parole ineligibility. Sentencing is scheduled for November.
The case was investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit and the Department of Homeland Security.
