An Atlantic City teen is in jail on gun, robbery and assault charges.
Bryan Maldonado, 18, was arrested last week with a loaded handgun and drugs, shortly after he and another man allegedly assaulted the victim.
Police were called to Montpelier and Atlantic avenues just before 2 a.m. Saturday, for the report of a man assaulted, Lt. Kevin Fair said in a news release Wednesday.
The 43-year-old victim told Officer Jonathan Perez that two men approached him and one struck him in the head with a bottle, according to the report. The suspects then went through the Atlantic City man’s pockets, demanding money.
The unnamed victim was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus for treatment.
Perez got a description of the suspects, who were then seen by Officer Mailon Demby in the first block of South Chelsea Avenue, Fair said.
One man fled and was not caught.
Maldonado was arrested after being identified as one of the suspects, Fair said.
He was found in possession of a loaded handgun, more than three grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, according to the report.
There is no full description of the other suspect.
Maldonado is charged with robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with the intent to distribute, conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts each of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
