A 17-year-old was arrested with a loaded gun in Atlantic City on Friday, police said.
Detectives went to Carver Hall, after receiving information of a male with a handgun, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
Detectives Eric Evans and Alberto Valles saw the teen who matched the description continually adjusting a bulge in his waistband, according to the report.
The teen tried to flee as they approached him, Aristizabal said.
As he ran, the detectives saw the teen take a gun from his waist and hold. He was arrested after discarding the gun, according to the report.
The gun had a high-capacity magazine and was loaded with hollow-point ammunition, Aristizabal said.
It was determined to be a "ghost gun," which is a firearm without a serial number.
The teen was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a ghost gun, possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession hollow-point ammunition, resisting arrest and obstruction.
He was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
