An Atlantic City man was arrested with a loaded gun Thursday, police said.
Detective Brian Hambrecht received information that a man was armed with a handgun in the area of New York and Mediterranean avenues at 1:46 p.m., Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
Detectives Eric Evans, Christopher Dodson and Alberto Valles soon saw a man matching the description walking south on New York Avenue toward Sewell, according to the report.
Zaim Wall ran as detectives approached, Aristizabal said.
He was seen discarding a gun as he ran, according to the report.
The gun was found loaded and defaced. Wall, 19, was arrested with a digital scale, often used to weigh drugs before distribution.
Wall had been arrested in October on distribution charges involving heroin and cocaine, court records show.
He was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a defaced firearm, resisting arrest, obstruction and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wall is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
