Brigantine car stop leads to arrest of Atlantic City man on drug charges

  • News

An Atlantic City man stopped for multiple motor vehicle infractions was arrested after Brigantine police allegedly found him with heroin, methamphetamine and more than two pounds of marijuana.

Jamirr Arthur, 24, was pulled over just after midnight Sunday after he allegedly was speeding and ran a stoplight while driving in the 3800 block of Brigantine Boulevard, according to the charges.

Officer Nicholas Crosson became suspicious and called for a narcotics detection dog, according to the report.

K-9 Officer Adrian Nunez-Santos and his partner, Narco, responded. Narco then indicated the presence of drugs, police said.

Officers then found more than 200 bags of prepackaged suspected heroin, more than two pounds of suspected marijuana and an unspecified amount of methamphetamine.

Arthur was charged with three counts each of distribution and possession, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He also received five driving citations, including being an unlicensed driver.

Arthur is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
