Virtual patrol leads to real arrests in Atlantic City

An Atlantic City police officer found a stolen car thanks to the new surveillance center. Officer Roderick Gaines was conducting a virtual patrol at 9:22 p.m. Saturday from the center inside the Public Safety Building when he saw a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier in the day on the beach block of Texas Avenue, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. Officers Ryan Kov and Rashawn Cochran went there, and found the car with two men inside. Gregory Jenkins, 24, of Atlantic City, and Jonathan Lopez, 26, of Wildwood, were arrested. The officers then found 40 bags of heroin on Jenkins, according to the report. Jenkins was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of heroin and possession with intent to distribute. Lopez was charged with receiving stolen property. Both men were released on summonses with a future court day. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 609-347-57665.
