An Absecon man was sentenced to eight years in prison for the brutal assault of an elderly woman he and his mother had been living with.
Brian Auxer, 31, was convicted in April of the attack that left the woman with a broken nose, cracked rib and scar above her eye.
"I thought I was going to die,” the victim testified about the attack, in which Auxer knocked her to the ground and continued to punch her in the head and stomach.
Auxer was angered by a fight with his mother when he attacked the woman July 3, 2016, Assistant Prosecutor Kathleen Robinson said at the trial.
Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Waldman sentenced Auxer to eight year under the No Early Release Act. He must serve at least 6.8 years before he is eligible for parole.
