Galloway rallies for family of givers who lost everything in fire

The McGintys are known in Galloway Township for always helping others. So when they family of four lost their Elm Avenue home to a fire Monday morning, it didn’t take long for the township to rally. “This dedicated family spends most of their off time giving back to the community,” according to a post by the Galloway Township Athletic Association. Police Lt. Chris McGinty, his wife, Krissy, and their two children all volunteer at the association, Chief Donna Higbee said. The fire destroyed the home and also lost their cat. No one else was home at the time of the fire at about 10:30 a.m., police reported. Five fire companies responded. They have two wonderful children 19 and 14.” Anyone who wants to help can donate through the page, or come to a Beef and Beer at the Smithville in from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 11. Tickets are $20 each, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the family. Tickets can be purchased through Higbee, Capt. Rich Barber or Kathy Weber at 609-652-3705, ext. 330. Tickets will be on sale at the Log Cabin at Gabriel Field from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 4. Items can also be dropped off at that time.
