No criminal charges in deadly Ocean City crash

  • News

No criminal charges will be filed in a Cape May County crash that killed a pedestrian on Memorial Day weekend.
Barbara Myers was driving a Jeep Cherokee at about 5:30 p.m. May 24, when she struck two pedestrians in the crosswalk at 8th Street and Bay Avenue in Ocean City.
Thomas Gibbons Jr., of Landsdale, Pa., later died at the hospital from his injuries.
An investigation by Ocean City police and detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office resulted in no criminal charges, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland announced Monday. State Police assisted in the investigation.
Myers, 49, of Woodbine, was issued summonses for failure to yield to a pedestrian and careless driving.
They will be handled in Municipal Court.
