A Brooklyn man who failed to show up for his sentencing in 2017, was sentenced to 20 years in prison Friday on gun, drug and bail-jumping charges.
Dakwan Taylor, now 41, had pleaded guilty to drug and gun charges in August 2017, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.
But Taylor failed to show up at his sentencing, and instead wound up arrested on similar charges in Delaware.
The sentenced imposed by Superior Court Judge Benjamin Podolnick will run concurrent to one he is currently serving in Delaware. He would have to serve at least nine years before he is eligible for parole.
The 12-year sentence he is serving in Delaware will run beyond that, with current parole eligibility date of 2028, records there show. He was sentenced as a habitual offender.
