Man wanted in Hammonton robbery turns himself in

  • News

A man wanted in a Hammonton armed robbery turned himself in after he was identified through a blurry photo, police said.
Matthew Miller, 21, is now in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a weapon and using a minor to commit a criminal offense.
“To all the users that said they’ve seen better pictures of Sasquatch … that post led us to the tips that gave us the identity of Matthew Miller,” Hammonton police wrote on their Facebook page.
The original photo was little more than blur showing the side view of a man with a beard.
But it led to Miller’s identity.

Police then put out a new photo of Miller — which was much clearer. That resulted in him turning himself in.
He is charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, use of a 17-year-old or young to commit a criminal offense, theft by unlawful taking, terroristic threats, aggravated assault, burglary, aggravated assault with a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Police have not released details on the crime.

(Editor's note: This story originally ran Sept. 13. It has been updated to include Miller's arrest.)
