A since-fired Atlantic City Public Works employee is accused of crashing into several vehicles with his work truck outside his former girlfriend's home hours after she took out a restraining order.
Troy Perry allegedly threatened his girlfriend Aug. 31, saying, "I'm going to kill you. You're done," according to information released at his detention hearing this week.
The couple have not been together for about five years, but share children, the prosecutor said.
The Pleasantville woman went to police and got a restraining order, which was served to Perry at 10 that night, according to the affidavit.
At 6 the next morning, police were called to a crash outside the woman's Cedar Lane home.
A neighbor said what appeared to be a white work truck struck the woman's car parked on the street outside her home, then backed up and struck a car parked in driveway before losing control and striking the neighbor's vehicle.
The truck then took off.
The woman told police her ex worked for Atlantic City Public Works. The truck was found in the city's tow lot with neighbor's bumper and license plate still impeded, according to the police report.
But Perry's attorney denied he received the restraining order, saying he went to the home the next morning because he was concerned about the couple's 15-year-old daughter starting school. The crash was an accident, he said.
Perry was released from jail Tuesday, with restrictions including no contact with the woman.
He also faces separate charges out of Atlantic City after allegedly spitting on police during his arrest to the point where he was put in a spit mask, and for refusing to be fingerprinted.
Perry no longer is working for the city, according to a statement provided to BreakingAC.
"Mr. Perry was a seasonal worker and has been terminated," the city's statement reads. "We do not know the cost of the damage to the truck, however, it is still operational. We are self-insured."
