Atlantic City police sergeant charged in Absecon assault

  • News

An Atlantic City police sergeant was arrested in Absecon last month for allegedly “wielding a wine bottle menacingly towards” a woman before “forcefully” pushing her out of a home, NJ Advance Media reported.
Sgt. Mohammed Kaiser is due in Absecon Municipal Court on March 22, for the Feb. 3 charge of simple assault by attempting to cause bodily injury, court records show.
The complaint, which NJ.com obtained through an Open Public Records Request, does not provide many details of the incident, but says the woman was in “fear of her safety” as Kaiser held the wine bottle towards her, the publication reported.
Attorney John Tumelty told BreakingAC.
“We are aware of the charges that have been filed against Sergeant Mohammad Kaiser,” Sgt. Kevin Fair told the publication. “Sergeant Kaiser has been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the charges and the completion of an Internal Affairs investigation that has been initiated in conjunction with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office."
