A driver was injured when his dump truck overturned leaving a construction site in Egg Harbor Township on Tuesday.
Michael Boyer, 65, of Williamstown, was leaving the old Inn of the Dove site around 1:18 p.m., when the incident happened, police said.
The body of the truck was not completely closed, causing it to tangle in the overhead utility wires, Lt. Brian Keane said. As the truck continued forward, it was lifted up and capsized onto the passenger side.
Boyer was able to get out of the vehicle, and then was helped by numerous motorists passing by who stopped to render aid until emergency personnel arrived, Keane said.
He was treated at the scene by Egg Harbor Township EMS, then taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash is being investigated by Officers Nick Poletis and Robert Moran. The Black Horse Pike was down to one lane in the area of the crash, then detoured for about two hours while the scene was being investigated and cleared.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Egg Harbor Township Traffic Safety Unit at (609) 926-4045
