Child porn charges lodged against school custodian accused of contaminating food, utensils

  • News

A Cumberland County elementary school custodian accused of contaminating food and utensils with his bodily fluids now faces child pornography charges.

Giovanni Impellizzeri, 25, was arrested last week on charges that he wiped his privates with utensils and was seen doing the same to bread that he spit on before putting it back into the container to be served to children at the Elizabeth F. Moore School in Upper Deerfield Township.

He is expected to have a detention hearing Thursday morning, when a judge will decide if he will remain in the Cumberland County Correctional Facility as his case goes through court.

More charges have now been lodged, claiming Impellizzeri was found in possession of child sexual abuse images, and also distributed them.

Investigators are fairly certain Impellizzeri did not manufacture the pornography, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said in a news release.

Due to Impellizzeri allegedly contaminating food and utensils with his bodily fluids, he also underwent testing to determine if there were any health risk to those who consumed food at the school.

"Based upon all available test results and clinical criteria, we have determined that the individual in question is not likely to pose any health risks," according to a statement by the Cumberland County Department of Health that is working the the state Department of Health to review the lab results.

Additional tests are pending, but it is possible that things could change within the next week, but not likely, the department said.

"We wanted to provide the most updated information to date," the statement read. "The health and safety of the school community is a priority and additional information and recommendations will be provided as needed."

Impellizzeri's pending charges include second-degree charge of official misconduct and third-degree aggravated assault by attempting to cause significant bodily injury to multiple students for allegedly spraying bleach into food that would later be served to children.
