Egg Harbor Township family loses home, dogs in fire

  • News

An Egg Harbor Township family lost their home and several dogs in a devastating fire Monday morning.

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Betsy Scull Road at about 9 a.m. Heavy flames had already engulfed the house.

Radoslaw Sroka moved here from Poland about 20 years ago, and met his wife, Aleksandra, also from Poland, his brother told BreakingAC.

The two started a family and have two children: Filip, now 17, and Julia, 14.

The family business was breeding French bulldogs. Some of the dogs were rescued, but about four were lost to the fire, Jakub Sroka said, including three puppies.

The family had no insurance and could use any help people can give, said Sroka said, who set up a GoFundMe to help.

Radoslaw Sroka was airlifted from the scene because EMTs were worried he burned his lungs while rescuing the dogs, his brother said.

But he was released Monday after and "he feels good."
