Residents at Seashore Gardens Living Center recently celebrated the Jewish High Holidays.
Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, ran from Oct. 2 to 4.
Yom Kippur, the holiest of holidays on the Jewish calendar, was marked this weekend.
Seashore Gardens residents attended services live-streamed from the Park Avenue Synagogue in New York City. Some were joined by family members.
They also heard the traditional sounding of the shofar, a trumpet made of a ram's horn.
For many residents, participating in these observances helps them stay connected to their cultural roots and maintain a sense of belonging.
Observing Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in a communal setting also fosters a sense of community and connection, which can be particularly meaningful for seniors.
