A longtime golf tournament in Somers Point raised more than $90,000 to support Shore Medical Center's philanthropic and community-based initiatives.

The Auxiliary of Shore Medical Center celebrated the 70th annual D. Allen Stretch Jr., Memorial Golf Tournament at Greate Bay Country Club earlier this month.

The D. Allen Stretch Jr., Memorial Golf Tournament has become one of the auxiliary’s most anticipated annual fundraisers. Each year, it brings together local businesses and hospital vendors, healthcare leaders and supporters for a fun-filled day on the greens to raise funds that will advance care at Shore Medical Center.

More than 100 golfers participated in this year’s tournament, which included two tee times, contests, raffles and an awards dinner.

John Ruiz, principal and managing member of R2Architects in Voorhees, was recognized for his 25th consecutive year participating in and supporting the tournament.

The funds raised through the tournament will support a wide range of initiatives at Shore Medical Center, from patient care enhancements to critical technology upgrades, ensuring that Shore remains at the forefront of community based healthcare.

The Auxiliary of Shore Medical Center has played a vital role in the hospital’s success for more than 85 years, raising millions of dollars through events, thrift shop operations and other philanthropic efforts.
