A teen who had to be airlifted to the hospital after a dirt bike crash Friday night remained hospitalized Monday.
Egg Harbor Township police were called to the 100 block of Cherry Drive for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a dirt bike, Capt. Cherie Burgan said.
The 15-year-old boy was riding the bike on the grass next to the roadway, when he struck a manhole cover and lost control of the bike, according to the report. He was then thrown from the bike and landed on the grass.
He was flown to Cooper University Hospital by SouthStar Air Medical Services.
He was listed in critical but stable condition, Burgan said.
The Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics and Cardiff Volunteer Firefighters assisted at the scene.
Officers Tom Rizzotte and Kevin Brady are investigating.
The crash was the first of two that involved teens in the township over the weekend.
A Pleasantville teen died Saturday following a crash in which a vehicle struck the 13-year-old as he was walking with a friend. A preliminary investigation indicated the car swerved to avoid striking another vehicle.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call police at 609-926-4021.
